All of the employers who have signed the local 305 CBA (collective bargaining agreement) - our contract - have agreed to give preference of employment to the technicians who are on the Local 305 Referral List. Florida is a "Right-to-Work State" so, if there is a labor union that represents the work force on the job site, it is not mandatory for employees to join that union. It is mandatory, however, for all non-member technicians seeking referral to register with the local requesting to be added to the Referral List and, thereafter to be considered for employment. Being on the Referral List does not guarantee your being hired, nor will one's seniority have any effect in the hiring process. The Referral List informs our our contracted employers that you are presenting yourself as a qualified technician who has been vetted by the Local 305 Referral Application Committee. Your name and contact information will be listed as well as the craft(s) you have selected. It is your responsibility to keep your address, email, and phone number current with your employer(s) and the local. Referral List status/eligibility expires at the end of each year; all non-member applicants wishing to extend the relationship with Local 305 will at that time need to re-apply.
The local 305 Referral List represents, without discrimination, members and non-members alike. For Referral List applicants there is a $25 fee to apply to be added to the Referral List and ALL applicants acknowledge and consent to our Local's Referral Fee of two percent (2%) of gross wage earned for covered work. This fee is charged to to both members and non members, in order to cover the costs involved in managing and maintaining our referral list. The Referral Fee has nothing to do with union membership or quarterly dues. Our board and associated committee will furnish an updated Referral List monthly to our contracted employers so that they know whom to give preference of employment to in our market. Accordingly, an applicant whose qualifications have been verified by Local 305 cannot and will not be denied admittance to the list based on their union membership status.
To ensure that you are always in compliance with your referral financial obligations, Local 305 requests that every technician fill out a Referral Fee Automatic Deduction Form for each contracted employer. This authorization form allows our employers to deduct your Referral Fee from your paycheck and remit to the local directly. If a technician does not execute a deduction authorization, they assume the obligation to pay our local themselves.
Referral Fees are due thirty (30) days after the work was performed, and it is the responsibility of the technician to calculate and pay this fee on time if the choice was made to not sign the automatic employer deduction form. Local 305 will invoice accordingly and failure to pay the Referral Fee in a timely manner may result in your name being removed from the list, and our contracted employers will be notified of your ineligibility for preference of employment.
To secure your placement on the 305 Referral List, please fill out the Referral List Application available on our website or email our Business Manager, Adam Leifer at; iatse305businessmngr@gmail.com
